In 2024 we are proud to offer a new program for clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), otherwise known as Autism, is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to others. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. The word ‘spectrum’ is used because Autism can impact individuals in different ways.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects individuals uniquely, especially in social interactions and communication. Many children with autism experience challenges in social settings and may exhibit repetitive behaviours, impacting their day-to-day lives in various environments, from school to home.
In Malaysia, autism awareness is growing, but families still face hurdles due to societal stigma and limited resources. Cultural misconceptions often delay diagnosis and access to critical therapies, leaving many parents feeling isolated. Initiatives to improve screening, education, and community support are essential to enhance inclusion and understanding of autism in Malaysian society.
To address these needs, Healthy Strides Malaysia is launching a comprehensive service in Miri, dedicated to helping children develop communication, fine, and gross motor skills, with the goal of enriching their quality of life and participation.
This program is supported by the Healthy Strides Foundation in Perth, Australia, a renowned rehabilitation centre for neurodisabilities.
The program is based on an 18 session, intensive therapy program. It involves 3 sessions per week for 6 weeks. All backed by the latest science and research - this program is specific to ASD.
We also have custom variations and lengths possible - please contact the Healthy Strides Malaysia team to discuss the option(s) available.
